James 4:2-4 reads, "You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it.  You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight an wage war to take it away from them.  Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask GOD for it.  And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong--you want only what will give you pleasure.  You adulterers!  Don't you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God?  I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God."

   Hearts were pierced, jaws dropped, eyes popped, as we all sat in a Sunday morning service while a powerful young lady (whom I have known since her birth) stood to give our "GRACE Challenge", asking before she would take her seat, "Now, who will take the challenge?" (for the upcoming week).  THIS heart check, in particular, zeroed in pretty deep, as we all were reminded to make sure our motives 'line' up with God's word. . .period!  I must tip my hat to one Jessica McConico.  Thanks for such a 'timely' word, and YES! I'll take the challenge! O, reader, will YOU take the challenge with me???

Take the Challenge

     During our Sunday morning church service, Jovante Lewis gave the "GRACE Challenge"(an inspirational challenge given each week to every believer to aim higher in their daily walk).  His opening statement was, "There are 4 types of people. . .those who spend their time wishing, watching, waiting and working.  Which category do YOU fall under?" he asked.  He challenged us (the listeners) to purposely set goals, and trust God more, to help us actually achieve these goals.  He read Philippians 4:13, "I can do ALL things thru Christ which strengthens me." Will YOU take the GRACE Challenge?

The MIND

If we can get the Word of God into our heart, 
We will have no problem with our 'mind'.  Our thought-life will line up, follow suit.
Ephesians 4:23 says, "And be renewed (or made 'new') in the spirit of your mind.  
Every waking day we need our minds 'renewed'.  Cannot function with last week's mind-set.  Need a 'new', fresh mind-set when we awake, to operate in our homes, on our jobs.  Heck! we need a 'fresh' cup-o-coffee each day, so the same goes for our minds.  Enough said.  Is safe to say that many of us struggle with deep fears and torments, nightmares, manic depression, mental and spiritual disorders, which attack different faculties of our minds.  But God's Word comes with power to break and destroy bondages, strongholds, negative and dark places within our mind.  It comes to set us free, enabling us to think more clearly, better, sound, positive thoughts.  Let's face it; we need our minds to be clear seriously just when making everyday decisions!! 
Like learning how to brush our teeth, dressing our OWNselves, waiting for our teeth to come in, all of which are a 'process', meaning these things 'take time'.  These things, and more, do NOT happen overnight.  With much prayer and patience, it takes time, but it CAN happen, when we put forth the effort.  Philippians 4:8 offers suggestions on some times WHAT to think about, how to govern our thinking.  
For those who lose sleep at night to re-occurring, tormenting nightmares, here is hope. . .Proverbs 3:24 reads, "...when you lie down, you shall not be afraid, yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet".  
Only God's Word says, "Thou will keep him (anyone) in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee (Him)". (Isaiah 26:3).
So we DO have hope when it comes to training or steering the thoughts in our mind.
Give it a try! 

Time to GROW!

Over the years, ALL the little Sunday School cards w/scriptures, ALL the Sunday School lessons, all the Bible Band, YPWW, BTU, (and more) to mention, ALL the teachings we have experienced thru church service after service, whew! (outta breath here)

It's TIME for those scriptures, teachings and preachings, bible lessons to GROW some LEGS in us.  Time for US as Christians, as the Body of Christ, to simply "GROW UP".  How long has it been? Maybe 20+ years for some; maybe more!  

Let's start this year, 2013, to 'grow up' in Him.  We've definitely been 'graced to grow'.  No more excuses.  Let's be the 'mature' people God is looking for, waiting on.  

Remember, it shows up in our 'daily walk'.  Now, let's see some 'growth'.  Start today!

We read Proverbs chapter 1.  Take time to do this.  I pray for you, you pray for me.  Holla back if you can.  Let me know you DID.

I read mine earlier.  Prayed for YOU.  Sweet.

                    31-Day Challenge in March 2013

JOIN ME! - Take the "31-Day Challenge!" the entire month of March, ending on the 31st day.  We will read a chapter of Proverbs each day, and will have read the entire book of Proverbs (in that there are 31 chapters of Proverbs) by the end of March. (*Make sense?)  So c'mon, hook-up with me.  We read a chapter, pray for each other, and make sure we don't miss regular services at our home church, seriously, to complete the challenge.  In doing so, this produces true 'accountability' with someone, other than yourself.
